Green Solutions to Air Pollution

Another challenge that street trees face

Street trees face many challenges from drought, air pollution, road salt from the winter, the list goes on.    Their estimated life spans are 7-15 years, when many trees live 100+ and beyond.

And even when we, as a community try to help, sometimes we make it worse.  Like this tree found on Ferguson Ave by Barton St.  There was a tree monitoring system in place at one time and now, the metal tag that was embedded in tree has caused some  kind of infection and you can see the black rot.

We have seen many of these metal tags embedded in trees in both Beasley and Beach Strip neighbourhoods and they don’t seem to be causing any issues but not in this case….
